Itulah penemuan para penyelidik Britain yang menganalisa data yang diperoleh dari lebih daripada 470,000 orang dari lapan buah negara, termasuk Amerika Syarikat.
“Jika anda tidur kurang daripada enam jam semalaman dan mengalami tidur yang terganggu, anda 48 peratus lebih berkemungkinan untuk mendapat atau mati kerana sakit jantung dan 15 peratus lebih kemungkinan untuk mendapat atau mati kerana strok,” kata Dr. Francesco Cappuccio, dari Warwick Medical School di England, seorang pengarang bersama penyelidikan tersebut, dalam hebahan berita di University of Warwick.
“Corak tidur lewat malam dan bangun awal pagi sebenarnya adalah bom jangka untuk kesihatan kita, jadi anda kena bertindak sekarang untuk mengurangkan risiko anda untuk mendapat penyakit yang mengancam nyawa ini,” beliau menambah.
Dr. Michelle Miller, penulis bersama kajian dengan Dr. Cappuccio, menjelaskan dalam hebahan berita itu yang “tidur sebentar kronik menghasilkan hormon-hormon dan bahan kimia dalam badan yang meningkatkan risiko untuk mendapat penyakit jantung dan angin ahmar , dan keadaan lain seperti tekanan darah dan kolesterol yang tinggi, kencing manis dan obesiti.”
Kajian itu telah diterbitkan pada 8 Febuari dalam European Heart Journal.
